FUE: FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRACTION METHOD FOR HAIR RESTORATION
What is FUE?
FUE (follicular unit extraction) is a type of hair restoration procedure
that involves extracting individual hair follicles from a donor part of
the body, usually the sides and back of the head.
These individual follicles are then implanted in the areas that are affected.
During the process, individual follicles – typically between 1 and
4 hairs – are removed under local anaesthesia. The extraction procedure
utilises a specific punch between 0.8mm and 1.1mm in diameter, to remove
the follicles.
The doctor then creates the superficial slits on the surface of the scalp
that is to receive the grafts.
The procedure is minimally invasive and is performed just under local
anesthesia. The procedure may take few hours to be completed depending
on number of hair follicles.
What are the benefits of FUE:
• Minimally invasive
• No linear scar
• No stitches or staples
• More natural-looking results
• Minimum discomfort
• Rapid recovery time
• Only is done by local anesthesia
When patients can see results after hair transplant:
In first 3-4 months hairs will go to telogen phase and all transplanted
hairs will shed during 2-4 weeks after FUE.
Patients can expect new hair growth usually within five to six months following the procedure. In 12-18 Months, you will see the final result of your FUE procedure, and you will get the look of more intensive, longer, and thicker hair. In 4-5 months, re-growth rate will increase and within the 6th month, you can expect to see half of the results and you will see the ultimate results between 12-18 months.
