Laser hair removal is using a concentrated beam of light
to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal, a laser machine emits
a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light
energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles. And when
hair follicles are damaged future hair growth is delayed.
But it is important to know although laser hair removal effectively delays
hair growth for long periods, it usually cannot result to permanent hair
removal. Usually, a person needs multiple laser hair removal treatments
for initial hair removal, and maintenance treatments might be needed as
well.
How many sessions do I need for laser hair removal?
It is not possible to know exactly how many sessions of laser removal
you will need without a consultation, because it all depends on how your
individual body reacts to the treatment, type of skin, diameter of hair
and the area to be treated. Most people need somewhere from 4 to 8 sessions
for best results, and it’s encouraged that you come back for maintenance
treatments once a year or so.
How long is the interval of treatments for the patients?
The frequency of your appointments depends on the area you’re treating,
but on average patients are advised for every 4-10 weeks for 5-10 treatments
to achieve the full results. After completion of this treatments plan
patients can wait to see long term results and doctor will determine interval
of treatments after that.
